Web spam takes advantage of the fact that search engine spiders cannot tell the difference between a human generated page and a page generated automatically from a keyword list and a dictionary. A significant portion of the hundreds of billions of pages of “content” on the Internet were created by marketers using auto page generators to rank for specific phrases.
