Guestbook Spam

To generate guestbook and blog spam, black hat spammers depend entirely on bots. For either of these techniques to succeed in delivering search rankings and ultimately traffic, the spammer needs backlinks, which are page rank passing links from 3rd party sites.  The ultimate goal behind many of the robot attacks is either to place links on blogs, guestbooks, personal home pages and other websites or to simply post spam.

Note the number of links to the specific URL exploited by TheGoodHand.com.  Yahoo’s site explorer tool shows over 8,000 links to search.comcast.net and 85 to the specific URL.  While 85 blog posts seems like a small number, this represents the small fraction that survive the automatic and manual deletion process.
